There are many tools of voter suppression: voter I.D. laws, purged voter rolls, difficulty voting by mail.
The Voting Rights Act (VRA) of 1965 was created to prevent states from passing voter discrimination laws that disproportionately impacted communities of color. As soon as the VRA was gutted, states rushed to pass policies that made it harder for voters to cast their ballots.
We need to restore the Voting Rights Act to protect our democracy.
