When Kamala Harris takes center stage in just a few minutes to accept her Vice President nomination as the first Black woman to be on a major party ticket, it marks a new chapter in our democracy.
It reminds us that we
need a new way of engaging voters who have been left out and left behind for too long.
It sparks the need for The Southern Strategy.
The Southern Strategy uses our resources and experience to grow a coalition of low-propensity Black, young, and women voters. If we want to create the change that we desperately need, we simply have to do things differently.

For far too long, we’ve been complacent — doing the same things and expecting the same results. Kamala Harris’ nomination reminds us that we need a new approach to unifying our country and engaging voters who are too often left out and left behind so we can meet them where they are.
Our work today will set the stage for progress and action across the country in the Democratic Party for years to come.
