John -- Millions of people across the world have been inspired by the stories of four fierce Brand New Congress candidates featured in the Netflix documentary Knock Down the House by Jubilee Films.

In 2018, a bartender from the Bronx, a coal miner’s daughter from Appalachia, a mother from Nevada and a nurse from St. Louis, showed us what is possible. We CAN have a Brand New Congress filled with representatives who will truly speak for us -- because they are us.

2018 was just the beginning. Three of these fierce women are back on the BNC slate for 2020, and they are in it to win it!

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the first BNC candidate elected to Congress and she has been making waves. Her fellow slatemates Cori Bush and Paula Jean Swearengin have already started building strong grassroots campaigns so they can win in 2020 and join her on Capitol Hill.

Paula Jean Swearengin is running for Senate again -- this time to take on GOP hard-liner Shelley Moore-Capito in West Virginia. Paula Jean is ready to bring economic diversity to a state that has been ravaged by systemic poverty.

Cori Bush is taking on Rep. Lacy Clay in Missouri’s first district. Lacy Clay embodies the definition of legacy politics. He and his father have held the seat since 1969, yet there has been little change in Cori’s district.

BNC is also proud to support Alexandria’s re-election bid for 2020. She went to Congress with a promise to fight for Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, the abolition of ICE and CBP and other progressive reforms. Not only has she kept her promises, but she’s a true reflection of the movement we are building.

We learned so much in 2018 and the coalition Brand New Congress built is still standing and continuing to grow. We are inspired by the 2018 BNC candidates who have taken up the mantel to run again in 2020. We are excited to announce that we will be introducing several new candidates to the BNC slate for 2020.

The 2018 election showed voters that elections are in their hands. The movement that sprung up across the country has inspired hundreds of regular-working folks to run for office. We learned a great deal in 2018 and we are ready to unite our fight and turn those lessons into wins in 2020!
