I want to walk you through something the national press is not going to put on the front page, because the story does not flatter the people they cover for.

The redistricting fight of the last two years is over. The courts have ruled. The maps are in. And the scoreboard is one-sided in a way that, frankly, even I did not expect.

Here is what actually happened.

Last week, the Virginia Supreme Court struck down the maps that Virginia Democrats had spent the better part of two years trying to ram through. The court did not just say the maps had problems. The court said the entire process Democrats used to draw and pass them was unlawful under the Virginia Constitution.

That was not the only Democrat loss. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Louisiana's racial gerrymander — a map the activist groups had been celebrating for months as the model for the rest of the country. SCOTUS struck it down.

Meanwhile — Missouri's new map: upheld. Texas: upheld. Tennessee just signed its new map into law. Alabama and South Carolina are considering similar moves.

Every single Democrat legal challenge to a lawful, Republican-drawn map has failed.

Every. Single. One.

And the reason is not complicated.

Republican states followed their own constitutions. We drew our maps inside the lines the law actually allows. We put them through the processes our state constitutions actually require. We did the work.

Democrats did not. The Virginia Democrats spent tens of millions of dollars on a scheme that included putting outright lies on the ballot to mislead the voters they needed to pass it. They got caught. The court told them so. They got exactly what they deserved.

Now here is why I am writing to you about this today.

The temptation, when you read a scoreboard like that, is to lean back and feel like the fight is over. It is not. The fight just resets.

The same activist groups that just lost in Virginia, Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas are not going home. They are already moving money into the 2026 cycle, and they are already drawing target lists. And the seats they target are not the safe ones in deep-blue cities. The seats they target are the conservative seats they want to flip.

Missouri's 7th — my seat — is on that list. It has been on that list since I was first elected, and it stays on that list every cycle. The lawful Republican map that just got upheld is exactly what makes this district worth fighting for, both for me and for the people who want to take it back.
