Last week, I announced that I’m running for re-election. And this week? We’re already right back in the fight.

Because Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and HHS are reportedly looking at a plan to push the “deprescribing” of psychiatric medications — including medications like SSRIs that millions of Americans rely on to treat depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions.

Let me be crystal clear when I say this:

Mental health care is health care.

And the decision to start, stop, or change psychiatric medication belongs exactly where it has always belonged: between a patient and their doctor.

Not with RFK Jr. Not with politicians. And certainly not with some guy in Washington who thinks his personal opinions should outweigh your lived experience, your doctor’s training, and the science behind it all.

Nope. No thank you. Hard pass.

And this is exactly why I need you with me in this re-election fight. Because when powerful people try to play politics with our health care, I’m not going to sit quietly and hope it all works out. I’m going to push back, demand answers, and fight like hell for the people who need care.

So, I led a group of lawmakers demanding answers from HHS because this is dangerous. It risks confusing patients. It risks adding even more stigma to mental health care. And it risks people abruptly stopping medications that may be essential, stabilizing, even life-saving.

We have actual problems to solve instead of attacking science.

People can’t find therapists. Appointments are months out. Rural communities are losing providers. Care is too expensive. Insurance companies make people jump through flaming hoops — yes, flaming hoops — just to get treatment covered.

Those are the problems HHS should be focused on. Not undermining trust in mental health care. Not putting pressure on people to go off medication. Not treating psychiatric care like some ideological playground.

I’m in Congress to fight for people who are tired of being treated like political props. I’m here for the parent trying to get care for their kid. The veteran who finally found a medication that helps. The young person who is hanging on because they finally have support. The neighbor, the teacher, the farmer, the nurse, the friend who deserves dignity and care.

And I’ll tell you something else: I can fight like hell because people like you have my back .

This week, I’m taking on RFK Jr. and HHS because they’re messing around with people’s mental health care — and that is exactly the kind of fight I came to Congress for.

When people’s health and safety are on the line, you show up. You tell the truth. You throw your shoulders into the work.

That’s the job. That’s the fight. And I’m all in.
