Data centers are expanding rapidly across Pennsylvania and have a huge impact on the communities where they’re built.

So why are data centers allowed to require that local governments sign non-disclosure agreements to keep key details about what they hope to build hidden from the public?

Data centers can use as much energy as an entire city! Plus they can consume huge amounts of water and be really noisy. Pennsylvanians deserve to know if a data center is planning on coming to their community and what that project would look like.

The Data Center Transparency Bill would put an end to data centers entering into secretive NDAs with local governments.

This bill is good common sense, but it hasn’t gotten a House committee hearing yet. We need your help to get it the attention it needs to get scheduled for a vote and pass!

Please send a message right now and ask your state lawmakers to support the Data Center Transparency Bill (HB 2359) to stop data centers from trying to make secret deals with local governments. [[link removed]]

While Limerick Township in Montgomery County was in talks with a proposed data center, local officials were asked to sign an NDA. They said no. [1]

Local officials choose to keep their interactions with the data center public, but that’s not always how things turn out.

The best way to stop data centers from pressuring local officials to keep things secret is by making it illegal, period full stop.

That’s why it’s crucial we get the Data Center Transparency Bill moving out of committee and to a full floor vote – and we can’t do that without your help.

Lawmakers listen to their constituents – and this is even more true on the topic of data centers. Now we need to get loud.
