Johh, today is National Nurses Day!

Nurses are the backbone of our hospitals, and they deserve better than what the Trump administration is giving them.

Donald Trump's big, ugly bill is making our already strained healthcare system even worse: Medicaid cuts have meant safety-net hospitals and community clinics losing critical funding. When that happens, nurses get burdened with higher patient-to-staff ratios, longer hours, and less support. That's a direct path to burnout, turnover, and units pushed beyond capacity.

And when rural hospitals and clinics are forced to close because of funding cuts, the pressure doesn't go away, it spreads. Nearby facilities get overwhelmed, and nurses are left trying to deliver care with fewer resources, fewer coworkers, and fewer options for patients who still need help.

On top of that, the bill excludes nursing from the list of qualifying "professional degree" programs, lowering loan caps for nurses pursuing advanced degrees. In plain terms, it makes it harder and more expensive to become a nurse practitioner, clinical specialist, or educator at the exact moment we need more advanced nursing care, not less. It doesn't add up. Diana has been clear from day one — she'll always stand against the big, ugly bill and fight back against these cuts, because she understands what they actually mean in real life, not just in Washington.
