Hi John,
Donald Trump’s war on facts could have ramifications that last for the next decade.
It’s almost impossible to overstate the importance of the 2020 Census -- the data gathered will inform the way electoral maps are drawn and how billions of dollars of federal funding is dispersed.
That’s why Trump’s order to end the Census early -- after packing the Census Bureau with his own political appointees -- is so disturbing.
40% of Americans have yet to be counted. If they’re overlooked by the Census, then the Americans Trump has chosen to ignore -- disproportionately rural, low-income, and of color -- won’t get the representation they deserve. It will be a huge win for the Republican Party -- and a colossal defeat for everyone else. We staunchly oppose this partisanization of population data, and demand Congress act now to stop it. If we fail, we won’t get another chance at an accurate count until 2030. Are you with us? Tell us where you stand:
Should the U.S. Census be politicized?
Thank you for your input -- we couldn’t do the work we do without you.
