The Trump administration refused to roll out a national plan to stop the spread of COVID-19 -- and the results have been devastating.

The U.S. is now the world epicenter for COVID-19. Close to 170,000 Americans have died because of the virus -- with over 1,000 dying each day. And the U.S. economy has just taken its worst plunge in history.

It didn't have to be this way -- but there is a fairly simple solution to help us out of this crisis.

Masks are a cheap, accessible tool in our push to recover and reopen American society -- and they are effective in slowing down COVID-19.

CDC Director Robert Redfield recently suggested that widespread mask usage would get the American outbreak under control within two months -- saving countless lives and jumpstarting our economy.

However, there is a big obstacle to widespread mask use -- President Donald Trump.

Through his early refusal to wear a mask, Trump politicized the issue. Now, many of his followers are following his cue -- endangering themselves and their communities.

To protect the American people and to safely reopen our economy, we need a national mask mandate NOW.
