Team, Trump’s shocking comments on the Postal Service add up to one thing: voter suppression.
"They [the Democrats] want $3.5 billion for something that'll turn out to be fraudulent — that's election money basically… If we don't make a deal, that means they don't get the money. That means they can't have universal mail-in voting. They just can't have it.”
-- President Trump
First, Trump nominated GOP fundraiser Louis DeJoy to be Postmaster General. DeJoy immediately axed funding for overtime pay, forcing a slowdown of mail services around the country.
Then, Trump and his team declared an all-out war on the USPS, refusing to allot emergency funding and decrying voting by mail as the Democrat’s attempt to “steal an election.”
Now, packages aren’t being delivered on time and elections experts are warning of a “nightmare scenario” on election night if mail-in ballots are delayed and Trump declares an early victory, citing purported irregularities with mail-in votes.
We have to act NOW to prevent this from becoming our reality. Will you sign on to support the USPS? ↘️
Despite what Trump would have you believe, mail-in election fraud is extremely rare. And with COVID-19 still spreading throughout the country, anything that can help prevent lines and crowds on Election Day should be protected and expanded to ensure Americans can vote safely and securely.
Not to mention, the USPS is an essential service, delivering paychecks, medicine, and more to every community across the country. But Trump wants to tear it all down to suppress votes in November.
If you agree that these critical services must continue unencumbered ahead of November’s election, add your name to demand Congress take action to save the U.S. Postal Service!
Thanks for speaking out,
