View as Webpage ‌ ‌ ‌ Missouri's Abortion Bans to be Heard by 8th Circuit Oral Argument of the appeal of Judge Sach’s injunction of the abortion bans enacted in HB126 last year in Reproductive Health Services of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region, Inc., et al., v. Governor Michael L. Parson, et al., Nos.19-2882 & 19-3134, which was scheduled for April and then postponed indefinitely because of the Coronavirus, will finally be heard by the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals the week of September 21-25. While the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision in June Medical Services LLC v. Russo, overturning Louisiana’s statute requiring that an abortionist have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital gives us some cause for concern, the fact that the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals in Hopkins v. Jegley recently reversed a lower court decision striking down abortion restrictions in the state of Arkansas using the reasoning of Justice Robert’s concurring opinion in the Russo case gives us much hope that our Missouri abortion bans will be upheld. Keep praying! Our Work is Not Done Missouri Right to Life PAC worked in several different primary races during the August primary. We were successful in 86% of the contested races where our MRL PAC endorsed candidates won over their opponents. Thank you to all who worked for these MRL PAC endorsed candidates and then turned out the vote for them! Our work together is the winning team! We now turn our sights to November. It is imperative that pro-life candidates win so we can continue to save babies and protect women from the deceptions of the abortion industry. If you are voting early, or doing a mail-in ballot, be sure and check with your Missouri Right to Life PAC team to find out the pro-life endorsed candidates in your area. There is also another ballot issue you will see in November that affects the future of our pro-life work in Missouri. On Amendment 3 in November we are asking for a “YES on 3”. Amendment 3 fixes the attempt by pro-abortion forces to take over Missouri legislative districts. It’s referred to as the “Cleaner Missouri Act.” More information will be coming to you in the weeks ahead.
