John,
This morning, I convened a shadow hearing on taxing corporate greed because working people deserve leaders who are willing not only to name the problem but to fight to fix it too .
Because here’s what we all know: working people are doing everything right, and still getting squeezed and told to tighten their belts.
Families are paying more at the grocery store, more for housing, more for health care — while billionaires and massive corporations rake in record profits and use a rigged tax code to avoid paying their fair share.
So, I wanted to reach out personally, right after this morning’s hearing, because this fight is just too important not to. If you’re able, will you click here and chip in ANY AMOUNT to help me keep using every tool available to take on corporate greed? [[link removed]]
I did not come to Congress to sit back and wait for somebody else to take this on.
I came here to fight like hell to unrig this system and make life more affordable for the people who are working hard every single day just to get by .
That’s why I led today’s hearing. We brought people together to name exactly what is happening in this country: corporate greed is making life harder, and Washington has let it go on for far too long.
But I also called for this hearing because I believe something deeply: this is not as good as it gets for our communities.
HELP ME KEEP FIGHTING BACK [[link removed]]
We can build an economy where people can afford rent, afford child care, afford prescription drugs, afford to take a breath. We can make the ultra-wealthy and giant corporations finally pay what they owe. And we can do it if we are willing to fight for it.
That’s exactly what I’m doing. And if you’re in a place to help power this work, I’d be absolutely grateful for it. If you can, please consider clicking here and chipping in $5, $10, or even $50 to help me keep up this fight for working people. [[link removed]]
I know a lot of people are frustrated. I am too.
But I’m also clear-eyed about this: the answer to a rigged system is not to back down. It’s to organize harder. Push harder. Speak more clearly. Fight more fiercely.
That’s what leadership requires. And that’s exactly what I intend to keep doing.
As a former educator, I learned early that when people are struggling, you don’t look away. You show up. You tell the truth. And you get to work. And that’s EXACTLY what today was about.
If you watched the hearing, thank you. If you’re just hearing about it now, I hope you know this: I’m not waiting around for permission to take on these fights. I’m out here doing the work because our communities deserve someone who will go get it for them.
Thank you for being in this with me.
