The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) taking public comment until today on whether it will allow one of the biggest polluters in the state to increase the amount of harmful pollution it releases into the air.

People who live near Shell's Polymers Monaca petrochemical plant in Beaver County suffer rates of asthma, cancer, and cardiovascular disease far above average.

More pollution will make people sicker! At a time when health care costs are through the roof, we should be cracking down on big polluters, not giving them a free pass to harm people who happen to live nearby.

This is the last day to send a public comment to the Department of Environmental Protection. Please take a minute to tell DEP to reject Shell’s request to increase pollution. [[link removed]]

Since opening in 2022, Shell's facility in Beaver County repeatedly pollutes more than it's allowed to. Instead of being held accountable, Shell has been given temporary permit extensions that allow it to keep operating this way.

The communities around this facility are designated as Environmental Justice areas, meaning residents face higher rates of asthma, cancer, and heart disease than places without a big polluter.

More pollution won’t just harm air quality—it will make these health problems even worse.

We can’t allow corporations to rewrite the rules when they fail to meet them. DEP must deny this permit update and ensure Shell complies with the pollution limits already in place.
