Watkins Distributing provides drinking water to firefighters

Idaho-based Watkins Distributing partnered with Anheuser-Busch to provide more than 11,000 cans of water to local fire departments. The water will be used as emergency drinking water while fighting wildfires. “Hydration is huge for our guys, so being able to receive a donation helps our budget and helps our guys get the hydration they need," said Steven Berg, Ammon Fire Department deputy fire chief.

Convenience store beer sales see growth

Nielsen data shows off-premise dollar sales growth of beer, FMBs and cider in convenience stores outpaced sales in larger channels for the fifth consecutive week, Brewbound reports. “The bounce back of c-store, which of course is beer’s most important channel, is another sign that consumers have settled into a ‘next’ normal” says Nielsen VP of Beverage Alcohol Practice Danelle Kosmal.

Grocery stores might be the next big thing to move into malls

Amazon might not be the only company eyeing vacant stores in malls. Simon Property Group, hints at opening more grocery stores in its malls. Compass Point Real Estate Analyst Floris van Dijkum said a grocery store in a mall could also draw more customers in and benefit the surrounding retailers and restaurants more than a fulfillment center.
