~ Chairman's Update ~

We've made it to August!

I hope this update finds everyone - our members, our supporters, and our friends - in good spirits and health. I don't need to be the one to tell you something you already know. We are living through a time of what feels like constant crisis. We've had to drastically alter our day-to-day lives. Many of the events and celebrations we look forward to each year have been canceled. Some of our favorite businesses have closed their doors permanently, and countless DC residents have lost their jobs. Social distancing has caused many to feel isolated and alone.

We hear you, and we are with you.

Therefore, I want to provide a quick "State of the Club" update:
* The Executive Board has been looking into the feasibility of regional deployments and holding in-person events. The District of Columbia remains under "Phase Two" guidelines ([link removed][UNIQID]) , which are some of the most restrictive in our region.
+ Anyone arriving in Washington, DC from a high-risk state for non-essential activities will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days following their arrival. This, in effect, limits our club's ability to participate in regional deployments outside the DMV.
* Despite these hurdles, the Executive Board has been hard at work to identify virtual campaign & social events in the months leading up to Election Day.
* I would like to remind everyone that we have several great candidates running in local races here in Washington, DC. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Republicans on the ballot ([link removed][UNIQID]) and see how you can get involved!
* And finally, I'm happy to share that our flagship meeting location, the Capitol Hill Club, has re-opened their doors for indoor service! We are looking at the possibility of resuming our in-person meetings as we continue to monitor ongoing developments with the club's protocols, limits on capacity, and other guidelines.

Again, the Executive Board is here for you and we look forward to resuming in-person meetings and political events as soon as possible. Stay tuned!

-Robert A. Sinners, Chairman
