Tell Congress: Republican COVID Relief Plan Doesn't Meet Needs of Wisconsin Families

The Republican plan for the next round of COVID relief does not meet the needs of Wisconsin families or address our unprecedented state fiscal crisis, which means it will make the recession longer and more painful. Tell Congress to put people first and immediately negotiate a bipartisan agreement that would provide substantial aid to state and local governments and real relief, especially for low-income Wisconsin residents and people of color who have been hit the hardest by the pandemic and recession.

The Republican plan ignores the hard numbers as well as the many stories of people struggling to get by and ignores the states trying to keep public services going while fighting waves of COVID-19 outbreaks.

Despite the realities in Wisconsin, the new GOP COVID relief plan has:

  • A massive cut in benefits for laid-off workers even though record number of COVID cases mean that many people are unlikely to be able to return to work soon;
  • No increase in SNAP benefits to help people buy food for themselves and their families;
  • No funding for homelessness services or additional rental vouchers; and
  • No new fiscal aid to states and cities to prevent layoffs of public workers and cuts to critical public services that we all rely on.

Click here to tell Congress that Wisconsin residents can't afford to wait. Tell Congress to prioritize support for people hard-hit by the crisis and provide more money to prevent states, cities, and towns from making deep budget cuts that will hurt tens of millions of people.
