Warehouses and distribution centers have some of the largest unused roof space in the state — it just makes sense to put that space to work.
Here’s what the bill does:
-
Requires new warehouses and distribution centers to be built so at least 40% of their roof space is solar-ready
- Helps existing warehouses upgrade their roofs so solar can be added
- Removes unnecessary fees and local barriers that slow down rooftop solar
This bill doesn’t solve Pennsylvania’s warehouse problem — and it doesn’t pretend to. We know warehouses bring real impacts, and we will keep fighting for smarter land-use policies.
But when warehouses are built anyway, it’s common sense to reduce their harm. That means reducing both the pollution they cause and the energy they draw from the grid.
Offsetting air pollution is particularly important for Environmental Justice communities, which are often located near heavy industrial zones or highways – and warehouses.
The next step forward for the Solar-Ready Warehouse bill is getting it passed through the State House. We are so close, but we need a boost from constituents in every district to get this commonsense bill the attention it needs.
Add your voice and tell your representative to pass House Bill 1260.
