We can all agree that the cost of health insurance in this country is ridiculously high and that there needs to be dramatic changes to get to the end goal of universal healthcare.

What is left out of the conversation is that there are ways to lower healthcare costs, independent of insurance.

The US prescription market is not competitive.  One idea that has received bi-partisan support is allowing people to buy prescription drugs across borders. When Americans can purchase the same or similar prescriptions from other countries, the US market will need to lower their prices.

The cost of healthcare is an issue that can't be dealt with through pretty words.  It needs plans and a person who can put those plans in place.
