TELL CONGRESS TO INVEST IN WATER UPGRADES NOW!

Dear John,

Over the past 50 years, America’s waterways have become increasingly polluted, resulting in extensive and ever more costly cleanup efforts. One of the biggest causes of our worsening water quality is our failing water infrastructure.  Across our country, much of the infrastructure that handles our drinking water, wastewater and storm water is inadequate, outdated, in need of repairs or all of the above. Compounding the problem, our badly deteriorating, obsolete infrastructure has made increased flooding an even more dangerous threat to companies, supply chains and communities.

Making the essential investments in water infrastructure would create millions of jobs and save American businesses approximately $94 billion a year in retained sales over the next 10 years.

Modernizing our water systems will have further benefits. New innovations in green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) and other nature-based solutions, like ecosystem restoration, are often more cost-efficient, effective, and resilient ways of reducing water pollution and flooding than conventional “grey” infrastructure. GSI can also beautify urban areas, attracting new customers to local businesses.

Several bills now going through Congress would increase much-needed federal funding for water infrastructure, but they need more support. Sign on here to let your representative and senator know that American businesses support federal investment in our water infrastructure.
