Is it now forbidden to publicly air anything contradicting the hegemonic narrative of the three-years-and-running (non)scandal  known as Russiagate? Twice in the last two weeks, a citizen of completely indisputable credentials in cyber warfare has come forward to identify the whole story as a provable hoax, and has been studiously ignored by the overwhelming bulk of the print and electronic media.

William Binney, former Technical Director of the NSA, has the unique distinction of being seen as a hero by many on both the left and the right. Having resigned his position in 2001 due to his principled opposition to that agency’s conduct of mass surveillance of the American people, Binney went on to challenge the entire official intelligence “community” on their loud claim of WMDs in Iraq. The aftermath of the disastrous invasion of 2003 totally vindicated him and his cohorts in the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. Filmmaker Oliver Stone did a major feature on him entitled “A Good American”, and the Sun, to its credit, published an op-ed by Binney and his colleague Ray McGovern in 2017.

More recently, Binney has exhaustively demonstrated that the May 2016 download of the infamous DNC emails to Wikileaks had to have been an inside leak, not an outside hack from Russia or anywhere else. To cite just one of his several arguments: the recorded speed of that transmission was almost double the maximum velocity attainable using the internet, but almost precisely what would be expected from a direct transfer via a thumb drive or CD-ROM, which is inherently much faster.  This was no electronic intercept, but had to have come from someone already in possession of the DNC-Podesta materials.  

In October 2017, President Trump, obviously aware of Binney’s findings, ordered his then CIA chief, Mike Pompeo, to meet him. But after getting a full briefing from Binney, which he never challenged in any way, Pompeo not only failed to inform the President of its contents, but continued ranting about the great Russian (and now Chinese) threat to our institutions. This is a danger potentially equivalent to the Iraqi WMD debacle squared—or cubed!

So why is none of this newsworthy? Is it because the second of Binney’s public events on August 1 featured Roger Stone as co-speaker? The outrageous legal railroading of that longstanding friend and ally of Donald Trump has been gleefully supported by the Resist crowd, despite its deadly implications for Constitutional protection in America. Or, perhaps even worse for the Mainstream Media: was it because the sponsoring organization for both Binney events was LaRouche PAC? Lyndon LaRouche was framed up and jailed by the same Robert Mueller who was the public face of the Trump-Russiagate prosecution, fully thirty years earlier, for the actual crime of challenging the policy prerogatives of the political and financial Establishment.

My advice to the denizens of the Fourth Estate: Please get over your prejudices and report real news. Too much is at stake.
