Johh, I have a few words to say on this International Women's Day.
Before I came to Congress, I was a civil rights lawyer. I've spent my career standing up for people whose rights were being denied, and I learned something early on: you can choose to take the easy road or you can stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard.
Women know this firsthand. The rights we have today— the right to vote, the right to control our own bodies, the right to participate equally in our democracy —weren't handed to us. Women fought for them.
Our mothers and grandmothers organized, marched, and pushed back against a system run almost entirely by men who were perfectly happy keeping it exactly the way it was. And now, we're watching some of those same people try to drag us backward in real time.
Across the country, extremists are attacking abortion rights, pushing legislation like the SAVE Act that could make it harder for millions of women to vote, and openly promoting the idea that women belong back in the home instead of shaping the future of this country. Let's be honest about why this is happening: they know how powerful women are. They know women vote. They know women organize. They know women decide elections… and that scares them.
I'll be damned if I sit idly by and watch as a handful of pathetic little men try to undo decades of progress that generations of women fought so hard for. But protecting our rights means winning elections and holding House Republicans accountable when they try to roll back our freedoms and force us into backsliding.
So on this International Women's Day, if you believe women deserve the same freedom, dignity, and voice in our democracy as anyone else, chip in $5, or anything you can, to help me fight back and take back the House from anti-women, ignorant extremists. >> [link removed]
Onward,
