House Republicans passed their disastrous voter suppression bill that will make it harder for millions of Americans like you to vote and have their voices heard.
The fact is, this bill would especially burden military voters, tribal voters, rural voters, survivors of natural disasters, and the tens of millions of married women in America who have changed their names.
We have a narrow window to fight back before this bill hits the Senate floor, and we need your help to do it. Please send our senators a message ASAP. |
Hi there,
If you think you might ever move, have changed your name because of marriage, adoption, or any other personal reason — or there’s even a chance you might change your name in the future — your right to vote could be at risk.
Congress is preparing to move forward with new versions of the SAVE Act — rebranded as the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act and the Save America Act. Despite the new names, these bills would require Americans to provide a passport or original birth certificate in person to register to vote or update their voter registration.
We are on red alert. Lawmakers need to hear immediately that their constituents oppose this massive attack on voting rights.

Limiting voter registration by requiring these kinds of documents — and forcing people to present them in person — is extreme. Just think about the real-life scenarios this would create: -
Do you know anyone who lives far from their county elections office, can’t easily get there, or can’t take time off work to go in person?
- Do you have kids, nieces, nephews, or grandkids who will need to register to vote someday?
- Is there any chance you might move in the future?
-
Do you know anyone who has gotten married, divorced, or changed their name for any reason?
Most of us would answer yes to at least one of these questions. Under this bill, people in these situations could be forced to show hard-to-find documents in person just to register or update their registration — or risk losing their ability to vote.
And here’s what makes this especially harmful: it will hit working families and vulnerable communities the hardest. Millions of Americans don’t have passports. Many married women don’t have birth certificates that match their current legal name. Seniors, military families, and people who have moved frequently may not have easy access to original documents. Survivors of natural disasters and extreme weather events could lose their ability to register if important records were destroyed.
Let’s be clear: it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections, and election officials already verify voter eligibility using secure systems. This bill isn’t about election security — it’s about making voting harder.
If these bills pass, millions of eligible voters could be shut out of our elections.
Republican and Democratic lawmakers need to know their constituents are paying attention and expect them to protect our freedom to vote. The only way we stop this is if people speak out now.
