It's August, and we are officially less than 100 days away from the
November elections! Here are our three top stories from the past week:
Across the United States, governors are putting pro-growth policies in
action by creating broad skills training programs and responsibly
distributing funds to workforce development. This is helping people get
back to work safely. The Attorney General testified in front of the
House Judiciary Committee over the government's response to the civil
unrest across the country. Not surprising, the whole hearing was an
embarrassment for Democrats. And finally, South Dakota's Governor,
Kristi Noem, has shown how science and leadership will help students in
her state get back to their routine. This is something all governors
should follow. Read below for more!

Republican Governors Are Getting More Americans Safely Back To Work

What Happened:

Across the country, Republican Governors expand workforce training
programs to help workers impacted by COVID-19

Why You Should Care:

Republican governors are carefully balancing public health and economic
wellbeing to keep working families safe and guide their states toward
recovery. A crucial component of recovery plans is helping workers who
have lost jobs or income due to the pandemic find new - and in many
cases, better - opportunities to thrive.

What Happens Next:

Republican governors understand how valuable a robust workforce is to a
thriving economy, and they have taken widespread action in their states
to prove it. New job training programs and CARES Act funds distributed
to workforce development efforts are boosting economic comebacks in
Republican-held states across the country and ensuring long-term growth
ahead to rebound even stronger than before.

'Is That Ok?': Barr Slams Democrats Downplaying Rioters Using
'Projectiles That Have Penetrated Marshals To The Bone'

What Happened:

This week Attorney General William Barr testified for FIVE hours in
front of the House Judiciary Committee to discuss the response to the
civil unrest happening across the U.S.

Why You Should Care:

The hearing grew increasingly heated as Democrats spoke over his
attempts to respond to their accusations. But he staunchly defended the
use of federal law enforcement officers in cities facing violent riots
during the hearing.

What Happens Next:

The hearing was an embarrassment for Democrats who made a mockery of the
situation. This also is a good indicator of how hostile of an election
season it will be.

Science Shows Not Going To School Hurts Kids Much Worse Than COVID

What Happened:

This week, South Dakota Governor, Kristi Noem, penned an article
explaining why her state will not delay students return to the
classroom.

Why You Should Care:

Governor Noem outlines why students need to return to the classroom.
Science shows the coronavirus poses less of a threat to children than
the flu, and keeping kids out of school harms them in a multitude of
ways.

What Happens Next:

Noem's goal as governor is to make decisions that promote
opportunities and security for the next generation. What happens today
should be a catalyst for young people to start businesses, invest in
their communities, grow their families, develop their careers, and build
an excellent quality of life.
