I know it’s Saturday. I know folks are trying to rest, be with family, maybe carve out a little peace before another busy week begins.

But the truth is — the work of protecting our democracy, our neighbors, and working families doesn’t clock out on the weekends. And neither do I. Because this coming Tuesday, Donald Trump will stand before the country to deliver his State of the Union address.

You and I both know what we’re going to hear… a speech built on spin, deflection, and outright lies.

So before that speech even begins, I want us grounded in something real — our shared values, and our shared responsibility to fight back in this moment.

HOLD TRUMP ACCOUNTABLE [[link removed]]

Here’s what I’ll be thinking about while I am away from Trump’s State of the Union on Tuesday night:

I’ll be thinking about the families in Vermont and across this country whose paychecks aren’t keeping up with costs.

I’ll be thinking about people rationing medication, choosing between childcare and rent, working multiple jobs and still falling behind.

I’ll be thinking about educators, nurses, small business owners, and workers who keep showing up — exhausted, but committed to their communities.

Because that’s the real state of our union. Not the billionaire tax breaks. Not the corporate profits. Not the self-congratulations we’ll hear from that podium.

And what makes me a “hell of a fighter,” as some folks like to say, isn’t that I enjoy the fight. It’s that I care deeply about the people caught in the middle of it. I got into this work because I believe government should make life better — more affordable, more dignified, more just.

It means having the courage to say — out loud — that we cannot build that future while corporate power and extremist politics are driving the agenda in Washington.

Trump’s speech on Tuesday won’t be about policy. It will be about narrative. About convincing people to accept cruelty as normal… to accept corruption as inevitable… to accept less than they deserve.

I’m not willing to do that. And I know you’re not either.

That’s why moments like this matter so much. Because while he’ll have a national stage and a teleprompter filled with lines to satisfy his very own billionaires…

We have something more powerful: people.

Grassroots supporters. Organizers. Everyday fighters who refuse to sit on the sidelines.

So I’m asking today — because this movement doesn’t take weekends off, and neither do the forces we’re up against — will you chip in right now to help power what comes next? When I walk onto the House floor… when I speak out in hearings… when I challenge harmful policies…I carry your stories with me. The parents worried about their kids’ futures. The workers fighting for fair wages. The neighbors looking out for each other when ICE is in their streets.

That’s who I answer to — not corporate PACs, not billionaires, not party bosses.

So yes — it’s Saturday. But the stakes are too high for any of us to sit this moment out.

Let’s be ready for Tuesday. Ready to reject the lies. Ready to demand better. And ready to keep building a country that actually works for working people.
