John, Donald Trump is an Authoritarian, and he must be stopped.

Just hours ago, Donald Trump tweeted the United States should delay our Presidential election.

Our way of life depends on the basic principle of free and fair elections. Without trust in the basic systems by which we choose our leaders, our Republic ceases to exist.

Now that Trump is losing badly to Vice President Biden in the polls, he's attempting to undermine the validity of the election in advance.

This is what desperation looks like on the most powerful man in the world. He wants to blow up the foundation of our entire system of government to stay in power, and he’s spreading lies about mail-in voting to do it.

Let’s be clear: Mail-in voting is safe. Absentee votes and mail-in votes are the same thing. Millions of Americans do it, including our brave men and women serving in our military. 

Trying to sow doubt in the outcome of an election is the exact blueprint for how an Authoritarian takes power. It’s how democracies die.

We must fight back. The time to step up is right now. 

As many times as he has abused his power as president, delaying the election is one power that he absolutely does not have.

Our Republic and our Constitution are under attack. We cannot allow those attacks to go unanswered.
