NBWA launches campaign to combat human trafficking in communities nationwide

Today, NBWA launched the Distributors Against Human Trafficking Awareness Initiative to train the 142,000 beer distribution employees in the U.S. to recognize and safely report signs of human trafficking. The announcement coincides with the United Nations World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30. Attorneys General Sean Reyes (R-UT) and Maura Healey (D-MA) partnered on the initiative along with Camila Zolfaghari, executive director of Street Grace and a former human trafficking prosecutor.

Polar Beverages and Keurig Dr Pepper agree to distribution deal

Polar Beverages and Keurig Dr Pepper announced that they have jointly entered into a long-term franchise agreement that will provide national distribution to Polar Seltzer sparkling seltzer waters. Family-owned and operated since 1882, Polar Seltzer is the third largest branded flavored sparkling water in the U.S., despite availability in less than 35% of the country, the company said. With this new agreement, Keurig Dr Prepper expands the partnership by now manufacturing, distributing and selling Polar Seltzer in the majority of its footprint.

US economy suffers a record drop in GDP

The U.S. GDP plunged a record 32.9% in the second quarter, highlighting the long road to recovery. Millions of Americans are still out of work, thousands of businesses have closed and many of those that remain open have had to scale back operations in an effort to limit COVID-19 outbreaks.

N.C. governor enacts curfew on alcohol sales at restaurants

North Carolina’s governor recently enacted a statewide curfew on the sale of alcohol at restaurants as to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Restaurants must stop selling alcoholic drinks after 11 p.m. and bars will remain closed. The news comes after Alabama announced a similar policy earlier this week.
