As I walked out after questioning Attorney General Pam Bondi, I knew this
was a moment of truth. The truth was standing right behind Bondi—the
courageous survivors of Epstein. The world saw her choose deflection over
dignity, refusal over responsibility.
Pam Bondi refused a simple apology. She dodged my question. She couldn't
even meet the survivors’ gaze.
And now? The Department of Justice is spying on Congress as we search the
Epstein files to hold them accountable.

This is outrageous. Members of Congress should be able to conduct
oversight without the Department of Justice spying on us.
Spying on my search history with a “burn book” of exactly what emails I
searched is totally inappropriate. As a member of Congress it’s imperative
I look for technical answers as to why exactly the DOJ thought it was okay
to release the names of survivors while failing to investigate the
predators that need to be brought to justice.
It is my job to hold them accountable, and it violates long established
democratic norms for the DOJ to surveil us as we conduct oversight.
The casual disregard shown to the survivors, their trauma, and their
presence in that room was unforgivable. Then to see a burn book spying on
my search history of the “un-redacted” Epstein files took this beyond the
law.
We can’t undo the failure of Pam Bondi’s Department of Justice to keep
survivors safe and bring predators to justice. But we can decide what
happens next.
