The United States is crossed with beautiful, historic natural beauty. We have our share right here in Massachusetts.

Great. American. Outdoors. These are three words that almost always go together, and rightly so.

It's our duty as stewards of this country to do everything possible to protect our air, water, lands, and planet for future generations.

That's why I want to take a moment to celebrate something truly special out of Congress: a victory for our country and planet and everyone who cherishes it.

I'm talking about the Great American Outdoors Act, which I am honored to have co-sponsored and which has passed the House.

This is about protecting public lands, about funding conservation, and ensuring that science and public health come before corporate profits.

What does that include specifically?

* Funding for long-needed conservation projects to preserve air and water quality through the Land and Water Conservation Fund and additional efforts.
* Support for our national parks, which need it badly, including a big maintenance backlog.
* Support for green infrastructure across the country - including in places where our children don't have access to it.
* Ensuring access to clean drinking water in some places where it's sorely needed.

And more. So much more.

It's why we're going to do everything we can to keep fighting for laws that bring consensus around doing right by our people and our planet.

Stay tuned. I look forward to bringing you more in the coming weeks.

Jim
