John, Republicans aren’t just manipulating maps to grab power — they’re trying to eliminate redistricting reform altogether. This is what’s happening in Utah, where Donald Trump has endorsed the state Republican Party’s efforts to dismantle the current system that requires congressional maps be drawn by a bipartisan commission. Republicans have been against the initiative, known as Proposition 4, since it was passed by voters in 2018. And now that a new, fairer map indicates that a Democrat might be able to win a district, they're even more desperate to repeal it. This situation in Utah is just one part of a coordinated attack on democracy. Several Republican states redrew their maps mid-decade to give Republicans an unfair advantage in the midterms. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are currently trying hard to pass the SAVE Act and similar legislation that would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote. Here’s the thing: What they’re trying to do isn’t just wrong — it’s unpopular, too. Just like other Republican-led attempts to manipulate maps across the country, the effort to repeal Proposition 4 is supported by just 26% of Utahns. It’s no wonder the campaign to get it on the ballot is struggling to reach the required number of petition signatures before the deadline this Saturday. So Republicans are scrambling. President Trump himself has taken to social media to beg Utah voters to sign the petition. (SAD!) Thank you for defending democracy, Team NDR PAC
