Winning an election takes money. A lot of it. That’s just the truth.

But here’s the loophole: When you’re born wealthy and well-connected — like so much of Congress — you don’t need to worry about coming up with the right message or actually meeting with voters to earn their support. Instead, you can just write your own campaign a giant, seven-figure check and buy your way to victory.

Sharice Davids? She’s the opposite.

She was raised by a single Army mom, paid her own way through college, and flipped an entrenched Republican Congressional seat the old-fashioned way: Earning Kansans’ support one conversation, one dollar, one vote at a time. Now, we’re gearing up for another tough election — and just like before — Sharice can’t win it on her own. Can you chip in $25 or whatever you can afford today?

Running ads, reaching voters, pushing back against Republican attacks — all of it can get very expensive, very quickly.

That’s why we have to send out emails like these, well… pretty often. We know they can get a little grating. And we know if you donated to every single message we sent out, you’d probably drain your bank account.

But we have to send these out. Because online donations to emails like these (and the occasional text message from Sharice!) are our most consistent source of support.

But if folks suddenly stopped chipping in to emails like these? It would be a disaster.
