Hello Neighbor,

Today is Safer Internet Day, an annual global campaign aimed at making the digital world a more responsible, positive space for everyone, especially our kids — and my Senate Democratic colleagues and I are celebrating this occasion with action.

In December, we introduced a bill package to better protect Michigan kids from the well-documented risks associated with increasing social media and Artificial Intelligence (AI) usage. Crafted with input from industry experts, parents, and advocates, our Kids Over Clicks package would create stronger safety measures to prevent Big Tech companies from targeting and exploiting minors online. And just a few weeks back, we hosted a press conference at the State Capitol to spread awareness on these digital dangers and our legislation to help address them.

In recognition of Safer Internet Day, we’re asking you to join us in the fight for a better, safer world online for our kids and families. Here are just a few ways you can help us move the needle:

✅ If you’re a parent, please take our Kids Over Clicks survey and share your experience navigating parenthood in the digital age.

✅ Help us garner support by becoming a Citizen Co-Sponsor of our legislation.

✅ Explore other ways to get involved on Safer Internet Day here.

Together, we can all play a part in better protecting our kids and improving Internet safety for everyone.

In Solidarity,

Darrin Camilleri

State Senator

District 4
