The House of Representatives JUST passed the NO BAN Act, legislation to repeal the discriminatory Muslim travel ban that the president enacted in his first month in office.
This has been a MAJOR priority for the Congressional Freethought Caucus. Now, we’ve taken one step further toward that goal -- and the coalition of lawmakers we helped organize to fight against religious discrimination in government has proven that they’re a force to be reckoned with on the floor of Congress.
There’s just one problem: Mitch McConnell and his GOP allies are REFUSING to bring the bill to the Senate floor.
Even though a majority of Americans oppose the ban and our allies in the House have succeeded in their fight, the extremists in the Senate and the White House won’t care. They haven’t from the start. They’ll keep blindly advancing their destructive and dogmatic ideology -- no matter how many innocent people have to pay the price.
That’s why we’re working as hard as we can to expand our reach.
With your help, we’re going to make sure America’s voters are more informed than ever before -- that our lobbying efforts are stronger than ever before -- and that our allies in Congress have more support than they’ve ever had, support they’ll need to win the fight against the Christian nationalist opposition.
That effort starts with raising $5,000 before the month is out. But right now, we’re $1,523 behind. At this pace, we’ll fall short and have to shrink back when we should be striking while the iron is hot.
But if we rally together to smash our goal, we can start to broaden the scope of our cause -- and start to push back against the hateful, closed-minded thinking that’s come to dominate our politics.
We’ll fight, and we’ll win. But not without your help.
