Shady Governor Josh Shapiro just released his latest budget proposal, and the numbers simply don't add up.
While Pennsylvania families are sitting at their kitchen tables making tough choices to balance their own checkbooks, Shady Shapiro is doing the exact opposite.
Governor Shapiro’s budget is built on a foundation of "pie in the sky" math that puts Pennsylvania's financial future at risk. Here is the reality of his proposed budget:
A $6 Billion Gap: The proposed spending exceeds our state’s actual tax revenue by over $6 billion.
Banking on the Non-Existent: The plan relies on $1.5 billion in projected tax revenue from recreational marijuana - which is not yet legal in Pennsylvania
History shows that massive government spending leads to only two things: higher inflation or big tax hikes down the road to pay off the accumulated debt.
Consistently increasing the amount of debt our state takes on each year is a recipe for disaster and is NOT how our state government or the federal government, for that matter, should ever operate.
Every family in Pennsylvania knows you can't spend money you don't have. We believe the state government should be held to that same standard.
Before asking for a single cent more of our tax dollars, Governor Shapiro should investigate the current waste of our taxpayer dollars and propose a balanced budget.
