On May 17, an event on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., will rededicate the United States as “one nation under God,” Trump announced at the National Prayer Breakfast.
President Donald Trump addressed the 74th annual National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, Feb. 5, touting his record on religious issues and announcing that the United States will hold an event to rededicate the nation to God.
“This prayer breakfast comes at a special time for our country as we prepare to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence,” Trump said five months ahead of the national celebration of the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
“When our founders proclaimed the immortal truths that echoed around the world and down all the way through time, they declared that all of us are made free and equal by the hand of our Creator,” the president said.

FBI Arrests ‘Key’ Participant in 2012 Benghazi Terror Attack
One of the “key participants” in the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack has been arrested by the FBI, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Friday.
The suspect Zubayr Al-Bakoush, who landed at Andrews Air Force Base at 3 a.m. on Friday morning, faces charges for murder, terrorism and arson, among others, Bondi said.
“From day one, Kash and Dan would sit in meetings and say, ‘We’re going to get him,’” Bondi said. “And they did.”
The alleged terrorist “will face American justice on American soil,” Bondi said.
“Hillary Clinton famously once said about Benghazi, ‘What difference, at this point, does it make? Well it makes a difference to Donald Trump. It makes a difference to those families,” Bondi continued. “And 14 years later, it makes a difference to law enforcement, who made the difference in this case.”

Trump Finalizes Rule Making It Easier To Fire 50,000 Federal Workers
The Trump administration on Thursday finalized a rule that gives it the power to more easily fire an estimated 50,000 federal workers who focus on policy, striking many civil service safeguards while also gutting their whistleblower protections.
The rule, dubbed Schedule Policy/Career, converts a wide swath of federal workers into a status similar to that of political appointees who can be fired at will.
Federal worker unions have staunchly opposed the switch, casting it as a way for President Trump to politicize a workforce tapped for its expertise to neutrally carry out their role across administrations.

Cuba Says It Is Ready To Engage With Trump as Fuel Shortages Worsen
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel said his government is willing to engage with the Trump administration as the Communist island braces for severe fuel shortages after the U.S. threatened to impose trade sanctions on countries shipping oil to the Communist island.
Díaz-Canel said at a hastily convened news conference on Thursday that any dialogue should come without prior conditions, and as equals, respecting Cuba’s sovereignty.
“To surrender isn’t an option for Cuba,” he said, framed by an image of the late revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
