It's Election Day, John!
Today, dozens of mayors, city councilors, city commissioners, and more are on the ballot. These are some of our lowest turnout races, so here's why your vote matters:
Local leaders make some of our most important decisions for our communities. From bridges and roads to community safety and affordable housing, your local officials often have the final say on what gets built, what doesn't, and where.
Local races like these are often decided by small margins . Many of these races come down to just a few votes, meaning that your vote holds extraordinary weight. Your vote can be the difference between electing progressives who will fight for working families, and electing conservatives who advocate for more of the same.
Your participation strengthens our democracy at a time when it matters most. Local elections consistently see some of the lowest turnout, which means our system is shaped by those who choose to engage. When we show up and vote, we demonstrate that democracy functions best when the community takes part and makes its voice heard. That's how change at the local level is made.
Polls are open TODAY from 7am to 7pm. You can visit okdems.org/vote [okdems.org/vote] to check your polling place with the State Election Board's official portal.

Team Kruse knocked over 2,000 doors this weekend to get out the vote!
We also have a chance to send a rural Democrat to the State House in the FIRST legislative election of 2026.
Luke Kruse is running in the special election for House District 35, encompassing parts of Noble, Payne, Creek, Osage, and Pawnee county. Luke is known in his rural community as the guy that mows the church lawn, drives the local school bus, and coaches the little league team.
He's a 19-year public educator, a strong advocate for foster families, and is focused on the issues that matter most to his district: strong public schools, economic opportunity in small towns, and clean water for rural Oklahomans.
So, if you live in House District 35, it is so important that you make it to your polling place [okdems.org/vote] by 7pm tonight to help send Luke to the State Capitol.

Today's elections aren't only about local offices, they lay the groundwork for a strong performance in November's elections, and prove that Democrats can win in some of our toughest seats.
After you vote today, here's three things you can do to keep our momentum strong:
- Let your friends know you voted today - they may not know it's election day!
- Share a picture of your "I Voted" sticker on your social media.
- Volunteer [[link removed]] to elect Democrats in November - from State House to Senate.
Local elections like these are decided by the folks who show up, and in Oklahoma, we have some of the lowest voter turnout in the nation. That means your vote matters, now more than ever.
Let's flip some seats, Oklahoma!
