I know we’ve sent a number of fundraising emails about our final FEC fundraising deadline tomorrow, so before we ask any more, I owe you an explanation for why your support is so important.
When I launched this campaign, I knew we were the underdogs taking on a broken system rigged by corporate PACs and billionaire mega-donors.
I have never run for federal or statewide office. I don't come from a wealthy family. I didn't enter this race with a network of mega-donors who could write big checks to this campaign. And I refused to take part in the corruption of corporate PAC money.
Most politicians rely on this kind of Big Money. They sit in windowless rooms all day calling ultra-wealthy donors before going to fancy fundraisers in the evening.
But I believe that the only way we flip Texas is with a true people-powered movement. Power comes from all of us — coming together to take back power for ourselves.
And while I wish it weren’t true, it does require significant resources to compete with our opponents and their corporate PACs.
These Senate races are ridiculously expensive. And with the final FEC deadline of our primary tomorrow, we have to prove that our movement has what it takes not just to compete — but to win this whole thing.
