Dear
Friend
,
This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating what we love most: our family, friends, communities, and the clean water that supports us all. When what we love is threatened, we don’t stay silent. We stand up to defend it.
Our rivers, streams, and lakes give us so much. They provide drinking water, places to play and relax, a deep sense of home, and countless gifts we depend on every day.
Caring for our waters takes commitment and constant vigilance. Right now, that vigilance is being tested.
The EPA has proposed a rule that would weaken Clean Water Act Section 401, a critical safeguard that allows states and Tribes to protect our waters from harmful federally permitted projects like pipelines and industrial development.
Section 401 is a promise: if a project could pollute your water, you have the right to say no or demand better.
This proposal would erode that authority by limiting states’ and Tribes’ ability to block projects that threaten drinking water, silence community voices by rushing public input, and fast-track risky projects that put local waters and communities at risk.
Love is action. This Valentine’s Day, will you stand up for the waters you cherish?
