520.6 campaign miles traveled this week! Where did I go? Here are the highlights:
On Saturday, The Denver Dems Central Committee Meeting on January 30th set the stage for our upcoming election season. I took the floor for candidate remarks and watched the discussion that will shape our 2026 process.
On Sunday, I attended the Silicon FlatIrons AI Panel, where I spoke about growing asymmetries in communication technology, and the ways in which AI is impacting our world, public policy, and civil rights negatively.
On Monday, I spoke on a bill that will allow people to sue immigration officers for alleged constitutional violations - a direct response to the horrific government use of force we are seeing in Minneapolis. I will do everything in my power this session to pass Senate Bill 26-5 to protect Coloradans.
On Tuesday, I attended the Fire Service Legislative Reception - as a former volunteer firefighter, I understand the risks and sacrifices of public service, and as State Treasurer, I’ll make sure those who protect us are protected in retirement.
On Wednesday, I introduced HB 26-1137, a law requiring transparency for Campaign Consultants, to ensure fair elections in our state, a move to protect our democracy.
On Thursday, a fabulous supporter hosted a house party to keep our campaign running - I don’t take corporate dollars, and they hate that because it means I can’t be controlled - these parties are so important to give us the funds we need to run this campaign. Our Special Guests, Maya Blasingame (2025 Civil Rights Awardee) and Muni Tox (Miss Trans Colorado ‘23-’24) spoke eloquently about why this race is so important in so many ways. On Saturday, I drove to and from Gunnison to attend the Gunnison County Democratic Winter Dinner. It’s important to me to show up at events throughout the state - when elected statewide, I will always strive to represent the interests of ALL Coloradans, not just those with proximity.

It will be another big week as we gear up to Caucus and Assembly in March. If you haven’t yet checked your voter registration, TODAY IS THE LAST DAY where you can make changes and still be eligible to caucus. For my day job, it’s a busy legislative week, but I’ll find time to hit the campaign trail and celebrate Valentine’s Day with my wife.
Later this week, I will be attending the Colorado Concern Legislative Reception to hear from legislators, cabinet leaders, and members of Colorado Concern for an informal and substantive conversation about Colorado’s most pressing issues. I will also be at the State of the State of Colorado’s film and video industry conference. As an avid champion of the arts, and the film industry, I want to be sure I am always in the know for the ways in which I can continue to support this critical industry, the jobs it can create, and the culture we can continue to support through film and video.
