Over the past several weeks, communities across the country have been shaken by the abusive tactics and deadly force employed by ICE agents. But this chaos didn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a reflection of failed leadership, lack of oversight, and a refusal to take accountability at the highest level.
Kristi Noem is that failed leadership.
She has defended the lawlessness and brutality of ICE and CBP, lied to our faces directly after the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, and repeatedly refused to answer for any of the grave abuses ICE agents have committed under her watch.
When the safety of our neighbors is in jeopardy and rogue federal agencies are allowed to carry out violence with impunity, we have an obligation to take action.
As I said in The Seattle Times:
“First we have to haul everybody, all of the leaders of these agencies that have been flouting the law, we have got to haul them before us ... we should impeach them... And we should make them answer to the American people.”
Enough is enough. There are too many lives at stake, and we cannot allow this terror to become the new normal.
That’s why I’m calling for the impeachment of Kristi Noem.
