The District of Columbia Poor People's Campaign is excited to partner with the DC Guaranteed Income Coalition to present the Demanding Dignity: 2026 Economic Justice Film Series.
We all deserve real opportunity for economic & personal growth. A fair share of the wealth we help create! In fact, the constitution requires that the government “promote the general welfare”. So why are we left advocating for the bare minimum each budget cycle, when there’s plenty to go around here in the District of Columbia? Attend our 2026 Economic Justice Film Series to explore these ideas with members of our coalition!
The first is a screening of Cracked Shells at the Black Workers & Wellness Center, this Thursday, February 12, 2026 5:30 PM – 8PM. There will be free food & fellowship! Please RSVP: Cracked Shells RSVP

We’ll have time for eating and catching up, will watch the film, then engage in dialogue around themes, outcomes, and opportunities.
Cracked Shells Overview
Washington, D.C., often referred to “Chocolate City,” has long been defined by its vibrant Black culture and history. However, rapid gentrification is reshaping the city, displacing the thousands of long-time residents and eroding its cultural identity.
The film aims to preserve the legacy of “Chocolate City” and its historical culture while calling for urgent action to protect its cultural and social fabric.
We all deserve dignity, with our material needs taken care of. No more exploitation through unfair labor practices or predatory financial services. Then our social stability & public safety can truly rise!
We look forward to seeing you Thursday. Forward together, not one step back!
