Hi John,
You have seen me ask for your support to fight for election integrity for years. I haven't given up, even when it's been difficult.
That makes it much more pleasant when I can report progress in this fight! ([link removed])
Recently, two bills I sponsored advanced, each touching a crucial area of election integrity.
The first is SB 1037. SB 1037 strengthens election integrity by improving security around voting equipment and expanding transparency for cast vote records.
Elections cannot function properly in a system where citizens are told to trust results without being allowed to verify them. This bill moves Arizona toward verifiable, auditable elections that respect both transparency and voter privacy.
The bill responds to widespread public frustration with secrecy in election administration. When officials resist basic questions or block access to election data, trust erodes. SB 1037 takes the opposite approach by reinforcing safeguards and ensuring that election systems can withstand scrutiny.
I support SB 1037 because honest elections are the foundation of representative government. Without confidence in how votes are counted, the legitimacy of every public office is called into question.
SB 1037 passed the Judiciary Committee 4-2-1 on its way to the Senate floor!

The other bill I can report progress on is SB 1425.
I introduced SB 1425 because Arizona’s election calendar and verification timelines are no longer aligned with reality, and the result has been confusion, rushed processes, and unnecessary risk to election integrity.
Under current law, the primary election is held in early August, leaving election officials with an extremely tight window to verify signatures, cure ballots, and prepare for the general election. That compression has caused problems year after year.
SB 1425 moves the primary election from the first Tuesday in August to the last Tuesday in July in years when a general or special election is held. This change gives counties more time to complete signature verification, resolve provisional ballots, and prepare accurate ballots for the general election.
It also aligns Arizona more closely with federal election deadlines and reduces the pressure that leads to mistakes and rushed decision-making.
The bill also addresses a real-world problem caused by changing election dates. Thousands of candidates and petition circulators collected signatures using official forms that listed the August 4, 2026 primary date.
SB 1425 makes clear that those signatures remain valid for the July 28, 2026 primary and cannot be rejected due to clerical errors or a date change outside the control of voters or candidates. No one should be disenfranchised because the government moved the goalposts.
In addition, SB 1425 tightens and clarifies signature verification and ballot curing timelines by using calendar days instead of business days.
This creates uniformity, reduces ambiguity, and ensures ballots are resolved promptly. The bill also strengthens transparency by allowing county party chairs to designate challengers and observers at voting locations and ballot replacement sites, ensuring bipartisan oversight throughout the process.
I introduced SB 1425 to fix known technical problems, protect voters and candidates from bureaucratic errors, and strengthen oversight at every stage of the election process. This bill reflects priorities voters repeatedly demanded from Republican leadership.
SB 1425 passed the Judiciary Committee 7-0 in a bipartisan vote!

It's extremely important for me to give you updates on the progress of bills YOU asked me to bring to the floor.
I'm not just going and occupying a seat. I'm fighting for YOUR priorities- and getting results.
You can see the progress I'm making on our priorities. It won't be easy but the bipartisan nature of these votes means we have a chance, with the right amount of support! ([link removed])
Your support IS working. Your voices ARE being heard. Help me channel that support into LAWS by pushing these bills to the finish line! ([link removed])
God bless Arizona, and God bless America!
