I’m Carol Obando-Derstine. I understand the struggles that working families face because I’ve lived them. I also know the strengths of our community because I’ve worked alongside them. That’s why I’m running for Congress.

I was three years old when my family immigrated to the United States from Colombia, searching for a better life. My mom was a machine operator, and my dad was a hospital technician, both proud union workers. They taught me hard work, grit, determination, and a profound love for this country.

I carried that lesson with me throughout my entire career.

I worked multiple jobs in high school, put myself through college, earned two masters degrees, and dedicated my life to helping others get ahead.

I’ve helped thousands of students launch their careers, trained child advocates, and connected people to the services they needed while working for Senator Casey and Governor Wolf. I also helped people and businesses lower their electric bills so they can keep more money in their pockets.

My husband and I are raising our two kids here in the Lehigh Valley, a place we’ve called home for over 22 years.

I love this community, and believe Pennsylvania families deserve a leader who will always fight for them every single day – because that’s what I’ve been doing my whole life. In Congress, I’ll fight for your family just as hard as I’ll fight for mine.
