As you well know, the survival of our Constitutional Republic relies on free, fair, and secure elections.
That’s why my conservative colleagues and I have been urging House Republican Leadership to prioritize the issue of election integrity. After all, the American people are rightfully expecting our Republican-led Congress to deliver real, America First results — including securing our elections.
Thankfully, the House is set to do just that this week.
If you recall, House Republicans passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act last year, a critical bill that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote in federal elections. For over 300 days, the SAVE Act has languished in the Senate with no action. Thankfully, that’s about to change!
As our great state of Georgia knows all too well, we must do more to deliver secure elections.
So, this legislation is back and better than before. The new and improved version, the SAVE America Act, bolsters election integrity by:
🪪 Requiring photo ID to vote
📃 Requiring proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote
❌ Directing states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls
These are not controversial measures. In fact, they simply make it easy to vote but hard to cheat.
Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Democrat lawmakers are fiercely opposing the SAVE America Act. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has even returned to the Democrat Party’s yearslong lie that voter ID is “Jim Crow 2.0.”
In reality — according to left-wing CNN’s own recent polling, 83% of Americans support voter ID, including:
✅ 95% of Republicans
✅ 71% of Democrats
✅ 85% of white voters
✅ 82% of hispanic voters
✅ 76% of black voters
Clearly, the vast majority of the American people agree: Our nation needs voter ID. Now, it’s time for Congress to deliver.
My House Freedom Caucus colleagues and I, along with a few conservative and committed Senate Republicans, have provided GOP Leadership with a plan to do just that! I firmly believe we can overcome the silent Senate filibuster and force Senators to debate to the point where it only takes 51 votes to pass legislation, rather than reaching the 60-vote threshold needed to end debate and consider a bill. I will share more on this effort once we pass the SAVE America Act in the House.
Bottom line, the SAVE America Act is aptly named — because ensuring only U.S. citizens vote in U.S. elections will go a long way to help save America. You can count on me to vote YES!
Please know that in addition to this monumental legislation, I’m actively working on another key solution to improve the integrity of our Republic’s representation. I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
