Even with 700 ICE and federal agents leaving Minnesota, the remaining occupation outnumbers local law enforcement in Minneapolis roughly 4 to 1. So it’s only natural — and definitely not surprising — that we’re still seeing ICE overreach, violence, and intimidation tactics.
We have to remember that the whole point of this operation was — seemingly — to terrorize a population of Democratic voters. If this had really been about immigration, we’d be talking about Texas right now. Or Arizona. Or Florida. Maybe even Kansas, where feedlots and slaughterhouses employee immigrants by the hundreds.
In other words, this may feel like a drawdown or some kind of victory. But it’s not.
Michael Fanone and Maya May talked through the latest out of Minneapolis, but also caught up on the arrest of journalist Don Lemon.
