Hi John,
We’re in the midst of a national crisis -- and it’s because Trump and his administration have spent the last 4 years removing science from our government.

Last June, Donald Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services announced a strict ban on fetal tissue research -- despite protests from scientists who warned the rule would hamper important progress toward disease treatments and therapies.

Then, just a few months later, Trump commenced a culling of the country’s Federal Advisory Committees, ordering that a third of them be dissolved. Suddenly, experts across the country -- including some of the best minds at the CDC -- found themselves muzzled.

And now we’re here -- caught in an unprecedented public health catastrophe, and our top scientists aren’t even allowed in the room.

We need to demand a return to reason in government.

That’s why we helped establish the Congressional Freethought Caucus. Currently 13 House members strong and growing, the caucus works to amplify the voices of scientific experts in Congress -- fighting to pass legislation like the Preserve Science in Policymaking Act, which would protect advisory committees from being disbanded by leaders like Trump.

In other words, the Center and its allies are pushing back HARD against this nonsensical, anti-science extremism.

But we need resources in order to keep up this fight. That’s why we set an ambitious goal -- to raise $5,000 before the end of the month. Right now, we’re falling short of where we need to be.

That’s why we’re reaching out to you. Our opponents are entrenched in the highest positions of government where they wield their enormous amounts of power and influence. We’re a small but committed coalition of activists -- and your support is the only thing that keeps us going.

Right now, we’re severely behind our $5,000 July fundraising goal. Help us hit our mark, so we can fund our efforts to fight against the dangerous strain of anti-science ideology that’s infected the GOP and that threatens all Americans, regardless of party affiliation. Please, if you want a government based on science, reason, and compassion, give what you can now to help us hit our goal -- and bring science back into the room. ([link removed])

We can’t thank you enough for joining us in this fight.
