From Mayor of Budapest fighting for freedom to protest and hold Pride, to our Danish member party defending the rights of Greenlanders, we have been busy! We are back with the latest updates on what we have been up to what Greens are doing to protect people, the planet and democracy. Â
Â
We stand in solidarity with Mayor of Budapest Â
OrbĂĄnâs government shows its fear once again. Gergely KarĂĄcsony, Budapestâs Green Mayor, is charged without trial for standing up to Orbanâs authoritarian ban on Pride.  đ Budapest Pride 2025 was the largest freedom march in Hungary in decades. People showing love, solidarity and courage. And a clear message no decree can erase: love wins, every time. â€ïžÂ  We stand with Gergely KarĂĄcsony. We stand for freedom, dignity and love.Â
ICE OUTÂ
Â
We are outraged by the killings of peaceful protesters in Minneapolis by ICE and stand with the city mayor, the governor, and protesters across the United States, warning against the dangers of ultra-nationalism in the US and in Europe.  Â
Â
We stand with the brave people of Minnesota, and with every person in the US who is standing up against the Trump Administration while it is deliberately transforming their country into a violent, authoritarian regime. Â
Whatâs happening in the US must be an alarm bell for all those who are tempted by the identitarian, ultra-nationalist far-right parties currently flourishing in Europe. This is what they stand for. And this is why we wonât hear any of them loudly condemning what Trump is doing.Â
Â
We stand with the peaceful protesters, the victims, the families and all those resisting.Â
We are also happy to welcome all the candidates who got elected at our Congress! And thank you to everyone who presented their candidacy for our bodies: your participation is an invaluable part of our internal democracy!Â

Big thank you to our Portuguese partner, LIVRE for having us in your beautiful city and organising this Congress together with us!Â
We have a new full member party!Â
We would like to warmly welcome our new full member: VESNA.  VESNA â zelena stranka has been part of the European Greens as an Associate Member for 2 years already but now they become a Full Member, representing Slovenia in the European Greens. They came from civil society to change politics. They are putting people and the environment first, with progressive policies.Â
The party is chaired by their co-leaders, UrĆĄa Zgojznik & UroĆĄ Macerl.Â
đžđź DobrodoĆĄla Vesna, polna Älanica Evropske Zelene stranke!Â
Hands off GreenlandÂ
Once again, Donald Trump is threatening to buy (or âtakeâ) Greenland, with language that echoes Putinâs imperialist narrative towards Ukraine.   Trump is undermining international law, and threatening NATO. These threats are irresponsible and echo the imperialist ideals that the European Union and NATO were created to put an end to. Â
Â
We support our Danishâ party, SF, in their fight for freedom of Greenland, they have been very loud and clear when they said that Greenland is not for sale.Â
Only Greenlandâs people have the right to decide their own future.Â
US military intervention in Venezuela violates international law Â
The US military intervention in Venezuela violated international law and we, as European Greens, strongly condemned it.
Â
We express our solidarity with people of Venezuela as we recognize their suffering through the years of authoritarian rule.Â
Â
We demand the European Union must stand firmly for international law, human rights and democracy.Â
Von der Leyen, don't hand our data to Big Tech!  Our democracy and online safety are under threat from Big Tech's powerful AI. We expect Ursula von der Leyen to uphold European values and protect us, especially our children, but her proposals risk weakening vital EU digital laws.   Let's send a clear message: Stand strong for our digital rights! Â
As the far-right gains ground across Europe, climate action, democracy and fundamental rights are under threat. At the very moment that strong, independent civil society is essential, we are seeing severe, and often politically motivated, cuts in NGO funding.Â
 Â
For nearly 80 years, the European Movement International has worked to strengthen European democracy. We have engaged millions of people across Europe through our projects, like our recent campaign to promote citizen participation in the green and just transition, which reached over 80 million people. Â
 Â
We are ready to do even more, but abrupt funding cuts by the European Commission now threaten our ability to deliver.Â
To keep this vital civic work alive, we urgently need your support, please donate and help us continue building a democratic, just, and sustainable Europe.Â
The European Green Academy, which will be held in Brussels on 24â25 April 2026, brings together Green thinkers, political actors, civil society organisations, and activists from across Europe and beyond. At the heart of EGA 2026 lies a central question: how can we build resilient, autonomous, and vibrant societies amid technological capture, geopolitical instability, and deep ecological crisis? registration is now open and early interest is encouraged as spots are limited.Â
We are happy to announce that the winter edition of our editorially independent magazine, the Green European Journal, is out now! This editionexamines the multiple and intensifying pressures â political, economic, and technological â that arts and culture face. It also delves into the green movementâs growing awareness that cultural power is just as important as good policies in the fight for a just ecological transformation.
