Lancaster, PA — Congressman Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) announced his candidacy for reelection to continue representing Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District, which includes Lancaster and York Counties.
Smucker’s campaign will focus on restoring opportunity, strengthening families, and ensuring the American Dream remains attainable for future generations.
“Every generation before us fought to create greater opportunity for their children and grandchildren,” said Congressman Smucker. “Today, that promise feels increasingly out of reach as our national debt surpasses $38 trillion, threatening prosperity for future generations.”
Raised Old Order Amish in Lancaster County as one of twelve children, Smucker’s path reflects the American Dream. After persuading his parents to allow him to attend Lancaster Mennonite High School—on the condition he pay his own tuition—he worked evenings hanging drywall to cover the cost, becoming the first in his family to earn a high school diploma. At age 17, Smucker purchased that drywall business for $1,000 and spent more than 25 years growing it into a regional industry leader, supporting hundreds of family-sustaining jobs.
“I still believe our best days are ahead of us, and with responsible leadership, we can put our country back on the right track,” Smucker continued. “By reining in out-of-control spending, protecting the working-class paycheck, and advancing pro-growth policies, we can restore opportunity and keep the American Dream alive for future generations. I look forward to continuing that fight every day in Congress.”
Smucker will continue championing:
· Tax relief for workers, families, and seniors to keep more of their hard-earned dollars;
· Small businesses and economic growth;
· Lower costs and expanded access to quality healthcare;
· A strong national defense and secure borders;
· Reforms to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer resources; and
· A responsible federal budget that puts the nation on a stronger fiscal path.
