Hi friend,
Governor Shapiro’s budget is out — and I’m thrilled that it takes concerns about Pennsylvanians’ energy bills and data centers seriously.
The Governor was clear: utility companies and their billionaire CEOs should not be raking in record profits while families struggle to pay their electric bills. And when it comes to data centers, he drew a firm line — they MUST pay for the new power they need, instead of sticking you and me with the costs.
That’s just common sense. But there’s more good news!
The budget also invests in things Pennsylvanians rely on every day: more affordable clean energy, more accessible mass transit, and stronger state agencies to protect our parks and natural resources.
But here’s the hard truth: none of this will matter unless lawmakers act. Now.
That’s why we’re redoubling our efforts to pass a budget that lowers your electric bill, keeps data centers from ruining our environment while bleeding us dry, and keeps our mass transit reliable and affordable.
But to get it done — and wrangle enough votes from both parties — we really need your help.
Chip in today to keep our lobbyists fighting in Harrisburg, fund our massive environmental Lobby Day that lawmakers can’t ignore, and support public education so that we can strengthen our advocacy and policy results: [link removed]
The governor’s budget isn’t the only good news out of Harrisburg. Just this week the state House passed a bill to bring clean manufacturing jobs to Pennsylvania, and a bill to regulate data centers advanced out of committee.
Pennsylvanians want more common sense results like these — not excuses. And definitely not politics as usual.
But with one chamber controlled by anti-environment lawmakers — and the largest full-time legislature in the country — winning these fights takes ongoing, sustained pressure. More conversations with lawmakers. More trained activists. More work to counter lies and misinformation.
That’s why your support matters.
Please give today to power the advocacy, organizing, and communications work that CVPA does every single day to fight for our planet and against polluters: [link removed]
With your help, we can lower energy bills, expand renewable energy, and keep data centers in check — delivering the results Pennsylvanians want and deserve.
Thank you for everything that you do.
With gratitude,
Molly Parzen
