A NOTE FROM CHRISSY

ICE, DHS, and KRISTI NOEM

The world is watching in horror as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents operate recklessly, dangerously, and lawlessly in Minnesota and elsewhere. Earlier last month, they fatally shot Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti and detained a 5-year-old boy returning home from preschool.

I voted recently against additional funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) because ICE isn’t operating legally, transparently, or with accountability. I, along with all of my Democratic colleagues in Pennsylvania, urged Sens. Fetterman and McCormick to push for reforms to DHS and to vote against this bill unless the reforms are added. Lastly, I am calling for the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for high crimes and misdemeanors.

My duty is to our community, and I will not give the Trump administration a blank check to endanger its own citizens.

ACA TAX CREDITS CELEBRATION

As you know, I’m a champion for affordable health care because health care is a right, not a privilege. Despite pleas from economists, health care professionals, their constituents, and those of us on the other side of the aisle, Republicans in Washington failed to prevent ACA tax credits from expiring on Dec. 31. The cost for health insurance and health care went up significantly for millions of Americans on Jan. 1.

Because of the backlash from people like you (thank you!), Speaker Mike Johnson was forced to allow the House to vote on a three-year extension of these credits, and 17 GOP lawmakers joined all House Democrats in voting to pass this bill.

Now, it's the Senate's turn to pass this extension without delay. How can you help? Keep the pressure on your Senators to pass this bill. Let’s get this done.

DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP VIDEO UPDATE

The FBI has transferred the investigation to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, which is run by lawyer, author, and Fox News host Jeanine Pirro. There is no basis for it, but given how vengeful this administration is, I am still taking this seriously. In response to the video, the Pentagon withdrew a defense policy fellow they had previously placed in my office, and there are calls to have my security clearance revoked.

Free speech has never been more important. Holding those who break the law accountable has never been more important. All of us doing our part to preserve our values and our democracy has never been more important.

I took an oath to the Constitution when I joined the Air Force and again as a member of Congress. I am upholding my oath and will continue to do so.

MY FRIENDS, THE GOVERNORS

Two of my closest friends in Congress – Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger – were just sworn in as the new Governors for their states. I attended both inaugurations and could not be happier for them or more certain that the people of New Jersey and Virginia are in the right hands.

Wins like these remind us that even during the most difficult times, Democrats are still prevailing, fighting steadily against the MAGA extremism plaguing our country. I'm thrilled knowing the people of New Jersey and Virginia are getting a friend and a real leader as their Governor.

Thank you for your support, John.

There's work to be done,

Chrissy
