I want to talk about the
calls to abolish ICE.

Some of us ran for Congress on a platform of abolishing ICE in 2018.

We were maligned, called “radical” and “fringe” — but really, I was just
the canary in the coal mine.

Devastatingly, everything I warned about has come to bear, and more.

Calling to abolish ICE is not radical. It is not a radical notion to
affirm the humanity and dignity of people, and to fight for the
preservation of families.

What’s radical is the federal government launching a terror campaign in
American cities, unjustly detaining thousands of civilians, zip-tying
children and taking them away from their parents, and people being
murdered in the streets.

That’s radical.

So when people say to me, ‘Why aren’t you just calling for ICE to be
reformed?’ I ask them: Could the KKK be reformed?

The answer is hell no.

ICE can’t be reformed. It needs to be abolished now.

So, I’m clear-eyed about what this moment requires from leaders in
Congress.

It requires continuing to call for abolishing ICE.

It requires not voting for another penny of ICE funding.

It requires passing my Qualified Immunity Abolition Act to hold ICE agents
accountable for killing our neighbors in the street.

It requires no compromise on achieving true accountability, peace, and
security for our neighbors.

[ [link removed] ]I’m going to keep up the fight for abolishing ICE. If you’re able,
please make a donation to power our grassroots movement to help ensure we
can keep fighting for our immigrant neighbors and opposing this fascist
regime in the White House.
